ABRAHAM LINCOLNOn GOVERNMENT
22nd February 2006
through Lily Ann
Government of the people, by the people and for the people is not a democracy. It is a republic with citizens who are sovereign actively participating in the decisions of consequence. How can it be otherwise and be effective? When a government becomes so large it is no longer in touch with those whom they govern, and is focused on the monster that they have created - all of the departments, cabinets, meetings, public relations, travel, budgets and so on - it is no longer is in touch with the voice of the people.
Where are the common people? How is their voice heard? By meeting in groups, town meetings and community forums that bring these matters before the geographic committees or forums to be decided upon. How can the state of Maine make decisions based on what the people in Florida need? How can the state of Louisiana make decisions on what the people in Alaska need? By being informed and aware through the geographic forums. Think deeply on these questions and look closely at the answers or ideas that come to you. Where are the commonalities, the similarities, the differences between them and how does it work together? Break it down further into councils of scientists, councils of educators, councils of wellness, councils of finance etc.
The individuals must begin to come together with a common cause, a passion for change, a thirst for freedom of expression and find the similarities in the diversities. For a common bond is woven throughout all of it, that in the expression of freedom does one find the true expression of Self. And as Self is expressed, experienced and explored new ideas form, clarity of purpose forms and equality of expression becomes the norm.
